My compulsive desires involve designing architectural spaces that emotionally resonate with those who experience them. My Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo taught me how to feasibly approach the implementation of the fantasy into reality. The activity since then shows evidence of this successful fusion of the practical and fantastic. More to the point, the favorable responses also show evidence of the acknowledgment of the human need for incorporating the fantastic into one’s lives and environment, whether it be for the amusement of a theme park, the somber inspiration of a library, or the solace of your own personal space.
My professional background bespeaks of a wide range of creative duties which may be adapted to the job at hand. My first major project at my previous place of employment was designing an architectural vocabulary, ancient artifacts, a hieroglyphic language, a backstory, a docent guide, merch tie-ins (including the foundations for an archaeologist’s journal and a video game), and a visitor’s site map for the aquarium at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Within a year of its completion, the additional costs of the aquarium’s design-intensive development, originally considered to be a loss leader amenity to hotel guests, were completely recovered from just the off-site patrons’ admission fees.
Such a broad range of design duties are indicative of contributing to a thoughtful and comprehensive architectural environment, and of a passion for such.
Projects and clients undertaken since then at Olio, Inc. include uShaka Marine World in Durban, South Africa; environmental graphics for CityWalk, Universal Studios; Attack of the Killer B’s! in Hollywood, California; AquaVenture for the Atlantis Resort at Paradise Island, Bahamas; the Ko Olina Resort in Oahu, Hawaii; Pearls of Arabia in Dubai, UAE; Al Ain Wildlife Park in Al Ain, UAE, and the Lost Chambers at the Atlantis Resort on the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE. More recent work includes clients like Chimera Design and Universal Studios Entertainment.
My output is not just intended for construction. A significant mass of my work is artwork, either in the service of conceptual design, illustration, or cartoon imagery. This archive will be periodically updated with samples of such for your consideration and review of my abilities.
